Japan's Emperor Akihito contracted tuberculosis when he was a teenager. The 75-year-old royal revealed his four-year battle with the deadly disease at an event celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Japan Anti-Tuberculosis Association in Tokyo yesterday (18.03.09).
